Welcome to Fall!

It's so nice to be back in the school and to see so many faces. Welcome to all our new families and welcome back to all of our Sol Feinstone families.

Here are some updates from our PTO meeting on October 1: 

• We're working hard to bring back many activities and make this a great year for the kids. 
• We're getting close, but need a few more families to join us to hit our membership goal, one of our biggest annual PTO fundraisers. Sign up at SFEPTO.com. 
• We still need volunteers to help plan assemblies and other events. If you want to help, please send a note to SFEPTO1090@gmail.com.
• Check your cart on SFEPTO.com for any unsubmitted forms. If you didn't receive an email confirmation, the form was not submitted.
  

SFE principal, Mr. Harlan, joined us and shared some updates, including:

• The first day of the 6th grade pretzel sale was a huge success and a nice sign of some return to normalcy.
• Students are excited about our SFE Soar to Success PBIS Plan. We've started giving out tickets and are recording the names of all the students who receive them. It's great to see the enthusiasm from both the students and staff.
• We're still working through the details, but are looking forward to our annual Halloween parade on Friday, October 29.
• Picture day is Friday, October 8 in the gym. Please place your order before picture day on mylifetouch.com with our School ID or Picture Day ID:EVTNXM36R
• Conferences will take place in person this year and are scheduled for the couple days before Thanksgiving. Teachers will send sign-up information.

Finally, the cafeteria staff encouraged us to help our children learn their student id numbers to help speed up lunch service.

Hootie's Hut, our school store is reopening this year. Hootie's Hut will be open during lunch a couple days each month. Opening day was Thursday, October 7. Hootie's will be open again on November 11 and 12. Check the calendar for additional dates and bring some money. Items range from $.05-$5 and include pencils and other school supplies as well as bouncy balls and other fun little toys.

Celebration books are back! Help us refresh and replenish the library and honor a child, teacher or staff member. Donate to the library and your child can select a book to have a placard with his/her name inserted in the front. To learn more or purchase a Celebration Book, click here. 

Wednesday, October 13 is Blue and White Spirit Day. Wear blue and white to show your Sol Feinstone spirit.

Thursday, October 21 is Mix it Up Day. We'll have some fun and make new friends.

Have some fall fun and help us get our yearbook started! Send pictures of your festive pumpkins (carved and/or decorated) by November 1, with the names of participants (SFE students only) and subject PUMPKIN to sfeyearbook33@gmail.com. This is a school wide contest, there will be no separate categories. Winners will be announced in school on Friday, November 5. 

The annual SFE Halloween parade will take place on Friday, October 29, followed by class parties. Look for additional details to come from Mr. Harlan.

Our PTO will be collecting candy from November 1-5 for Operation Gratitude. This program collects and distributes candy to deployed troops, local military units, veterans and first responders. Stay tuned for more information!

We're looking for committee chairs for the following:

-Playground/recess- Periodically check on supplies for both outdoor and indoor recess and refresh as needed

-Hospitality- Coordinate refreshments for out of school hour events (concerts, etc)

-Assemblies- Work within the budget to set up periodic assemblies

Whether you have a little or a lot of time to give, we can use your help.

We are looking for photographers to take pictures at various activities, spirit days, etc this year. Reach out to Stacy Keeler or Nicolette Myslinski if you want to help.

Purchase a pretzel on Friday mornings to support our 6th grade class. Pretzels can be purchased on your way into school for $1. You can also purchase Pretzel Coupons. A sheet of 10 coupons is $10. Purchase on the SFE PTO website and the coupons will be sent home with students.

Be sure to enter organization ID 23656 and 40% of all orders placed by December 3, 2021 will go to the SFE PTO to support our school.

Our annual membership drive is one of our biggest fundraisers. Your annual registration of $35 goes directly to support our SFE school community and gives you access to the school directory. The members only directory is conveniently available through the Membership Toolkit App and offers a wealth of information and resources that will help you navigate through the SFE community. Information includes class rosters and family contact information*. 

*You are not required to include your personal information in the directory.

Spirit wear can be purchased at any time through 1st place Spiritwear. There is something for everyone - students, teachers, parents and more. They will mail directly to your house and 10% goes directly to the PTO.

Make your life easier by subscribing to our SFE PTO Calendar. All school events, holidays and important dates have been included. 

If you haven't already, create or link a MTK account to access the site's full contents, including directory and more.

1. Go to www.sfepto.com or www.sfepto.membershiptoolkit.com 
2. Click on Register/login button on the right
3. If you already have an account with another organization in MTK you can use the same email, and password to login
4. Select “create account” and fill in the fields
5. Click “verify my email” - then check your email for link to complete process: Note the link expires in 2 hrs
6. Once verified, login and finish the registration process

Once the Primary Account setup is complete, you can invite others to access the family account as a secondary user.
