PTO Newsletter - January 2023

Happy New Year Sol Feinstone Families,

Hopefully everyone enjoyed the holidays and some time off. It's hard to believe the school year is half over. We had a lot of fun to end 2022 and we're gearing up for a busy 2023! Read on to learn what's going on in our school community and be sure to mark your calendar and join the fun.

Here are some updates from our PTO meeting on January 6:

  • Thanks to our Give Back Committee and all who supported our efforts in the fall. We delivered over 800 pounds of food and essential items to the Warminster Food Bank. We collected more than 30 bags of coats and other winter essentials for Cradles to Crayons. And, there's still time to participate in our MLK Day of Service project, by creating cards for Cradles to Crayons.
  • Thanks to all the homeroom parents and class photographers for our festive holiday parties.
  • Recent PTO contributions to the school include chair pockets for kindergarten and first grade classrooms, some new library books, rugs and other supplies for the new classrooms, flowers for the winter concert and some hand warmers for the staff working outside during arrival/dismissal. The PTO also sponsored a teacher lunch during conferences and a cocoa and snack bar for the teachers and staff before the holidays.

SFE principal, Mr. Harlan, joined us and shared some updates, including:

  • We're midway through the year and picking up steam for a busy spring.
  • The cast and crew of Moana have been working hard and are super excited to share the production with our SFE community. Thanks to the staff and volunteers who are helping make the production a hit.
  • Thanks to all who participated in and supported the SFE Student Council Cornhole Fundraiser where we raised over $2k for Neighborhood Outreach. Congrats to the winning classes, Mrs. Caione (1-3) and Mrs. McGowan (4-6). And, thanks to all who participated in and contributed to our CHOP PJ day fundraiser. We raised over $6k for CHOP!
  • Construction is still progressing. A couple additional classrooms were finished at year-end and a couple teachers worked hard over the break to move into their new spaces. Demo and construction has begun on the middle hallway. And, fortunately, we still have access to all the recess equipment and fields.
  • Council Rock Education Week is being celebrated across our elementary schools from January 16 through January 20. We hope you will be able to visit with us to get a sampling of your child’s school experience.
  • The second marking period is wrapping up and report cards will be available on February 6.

Please plan to join us for our next PTO meeting at 9:15 AM on Friday, February 3 in the gym/cafeteria.

We're also excited to invite you to our second evening PTO meeting this year. Especially if you can't make our monthly meetings, we encourage you to join us at 6:30 PM on Wednesday, March 8 in the gym/cafeteria to learn more about our school community and get involved.

Look for fun opportunities to give back monthly.

through January 20 - MLK Day of Service Project

There's still time to participate in our MLK Day of Service Project. The SFE PTO Gives Back Committee is collecting homemade cards for the local nonprofit organization, Cradles to Crayons. These cards will go into backpacks assembled by Cradles to Crayons filled with school supplies that will be distributed to local students for the 2023 school year. The goal of a back to school card is to make a child feel valued and help boost their confidence as they start the new school year. Please see the card guidance on their website.
