Happy Fall Sol Feinstone Families,

Both the school year and our PTO activities are well underway. Read on to learn what's going on in our school community and be sure to mark your calendar and join the fun.

Here are some updates from our PTO meeting on November 4: 

• Thanks to the Diversity committee and parent volunteers for a successful Mix It Up Day. Students were given an Air Head as they entered the cafeteria and then had the opportunity to sit at color coded tables where they could connect with classmates they may not typically get to interact with. They then participated in a paper airplane making activity, which included writing why it's important to be inclusive or about an act of kindness. The colorful paper airplanes are now decorating the school.
• Thanks to the Trunk or Treat committee and volunteers for a super successful first ever SFE Trunk or Treat. We had over 50 families decorate trunks and over 400 trunk-or-treaters. Congratulations to the Diozzi, Corvino and Mitschele families for the best decorated trunks. 
• Thanks to all the homeroom parents and class photographers who helped make Halloween a success. The students had a lot of fun at both the parade and parties.
• Thanks to all who donated candy. Multiple boxes were delivered to A Soldier's Hand for inclusion in packages for the military.
• Recent PTO contributions to the school include a speaker and microphone to be used in the cafeteria and during special events, recess supplies and library books. The PTO will also be sponsoring a teacher meal during conferences.
  

SFE principal, Mr. Harlan, joined us and shared some updates, including:

• We've been having lots of fun this fall, spirit days, Halloween, Mix it Up Day. Thanks to the PTO and all the parent volunteers for their support. The students are really enjoying the activities.
• The construction is moving along as planned and really isn't impacting the students and staff.
• The first marking period is wrapping up and report cards will be available on November 17. We're also looking forward to conferences. If you haven't already, be sure to schedule a time to connect with your students' teachers.

If you haven't been able to make it to a PTO meeting this year, we encourage you to join us at 6:30 PM on Wednesday, November 9 in the gym/cafeteria. The evening meeting is a great opportunity to learn more about our school community and get involved if you can't make it to our monthly meetings on Friday mornings. 

Please plan to join us for our next PTO meeting at 9:15 AM on Friday, December 2 in the gym/cafeteria. 

Hootie's Hut will be open during all lunches on Thursday, November 17 and Friday, November 18.

Our school store will be open a couple days each month during all lunches and will also include a time for kindergarten to visit. Send your students with some money and they can work on their math skills! Items range from $.25-$10 and include pencils and other school supplies as well as slime, bouncy balls and other fun little toys.  

Volunteers are needed to help our school store run smoothly. To help, you must have clearances on file with the district.

Saturday, November 19 from 5-7

The SFE Glow Dance is back. It will be held on Saturday, November 19 at Newtown Middle School from 5-7 PM. Grab your special adult guest and join us for a GLOW-TASTIC night! Your night will be lit up with lots of glow fun, light refreshments, and dancing! This will be open to all SFE students. 

Tickets can still be purchased. T-shirts are limited. If you don't get a t-shirt, don't worry, you can decorate any white t-shirt with glow paint.

Monday, November 21

The PTO is sponsoring a virtual assembly on Paper Airplanes to build upon our Mix It Up Day activity and align with our Soar to Success theme. The assembly will be held from 9:30-10:15 a.m. for Grades K-3 and 10:30-11:15 a.m. for Grades 4-6.

Monday, November 21 and Tuesday, November 22

The Holiday Shop (Penguin Patch) is back! It is a great chance to let the students purchase items for their loved ones this holiday season. There's something for everyone on their list with prices ranging from $.50 to $15. Students will shop during assigned times on Monday and Tuesday with their classes. We will send home a flyer along with a gift list envelope to return to school with your child the day of the holiday shop if you wish to participate. There will also be shopping opportunities during parent/teacher conferences. 

We will be in need of several volunteers. If you have clearances and wish to come help, please  SIGN UP.

Thursday, December 22

Parties will take place in the classrooms from 2:00-2:45. Look for additional information from homeroom parents.

Look for fun opportunities to give back monthly.

through November 11 - Food drive

Support the Warminster Food Bank and families in need. Donate non-perishable, non-glass food items. Collection bins are available at the front entrance of the school. Let's see how much we can collect for local families in need.

November 14-18

The SFE Student Council is sponsoring a Cornhole Fundraiser to benefit Neighborhood Outreach. Students will have the opportunity to participate during gym class. Classes will compete to win an extra gym class. Encourage them to bring some money to donate to Neighborhood Outreach. 

Friday, December 2 - CHOP PJ Day

Save the date to wear pajamas and support the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. Details to come on making your contributions.

Half days are blue and white spirit days. Wear blue and white or your Sol Feinstone gear to show your school spirit.

Show your school spirit and wear your pajamas.

The Holiday Shop is looking for volunteers to help as Shopping Assistants, Cashiers and Gift Wrappers. 

We have lots of fun activities planned this year, some old favorites and some new ones too. We need your help to make this happen!

Join a committee to support our school community.  We always try to do some extra special things for our sixth graders and could use some help there too.

Whether you have a little or a lot of time to give, we can use your help.

Our annual membership drive is one of our biggest fundraisers. Your annual registration of $35 goes directly to support our SFE school community and gives you access to the school directory. 

Your PTO membership includes the members only directory, which is conveniently available through the Membership Toolkit App and offers a wealth of information and resources that will help you navigate through the SFE community. Each family that joins the PTO will receive a copy of the printed directory. Information includes class rosters and family contact information*. Be sure to enter/update your information so it's included in the directory.

*You are not required to include your personal information in the directory.

Purchase a pretzel on Friday mornings to support our 6th grade class. Pretzels can be purchased on your way into school for $1. You can also purchase Pretzel Coupons. A sheet of 10 coupons is $10. Purchase on the SFE PTO website and the coupons will be sent home with students.

Help us refresh and replenish the library. Donate to the library and your child can select a book to have a placard with his/her name inserted in the front.
