PTO Newsletter - September 2022

Welcome Back Sol Feinstone Families,

We're so excited for a new school year!  As a PTO, we are here for our kids and we appreciate the partnership with our teachers, administrators, and Sol Feinstone staff.

Here are some back to school updates from our first PTO meeting on September 9:

  • First, a giant THANK YOU to Mr. Harlan, all the SFE teachers and staff for their efforts getting us ready for this school year.
  • The construction is moving along as planned and both the teachers and students seem to be settling into their new classrooms.
  • The PTO continues to support the teachers and school with whatever we can, including providing gift cards to help each of the teachers purchase classroom supplies.
  • We're hoping to bring back many activities and some new ones to make this a really fun filled year. But, we need your help!
    • Please join us! Joining the Sol Feinstone PTO is easy! It gives you the opportunity to get involved in your children's school. It gives you access to the school directory, both printed and online, and it helps us raise money. All money raised by the PTO goes back to the school community. SIGN UP TODAY. Join by Friday, September 16 for the opportunity to win prizes, parties and more.
    • We are still looking for homeroom parents and class photographers. Volunteers must be PTO members and have clearances on file with the district. Both roles provide an opportunity to help out in the classroom. If you're interested, please submit your form by Friday, September 16.
    • We need volunteers to join our committees, help with activities and more. If you want to get involved, please send a note to SFEPTO1090@gmail.com.

SFE principal, Mr. Harlan, joined us and shared some updates, including:

  • It's been a great start to the school year. Both the students and staff seemed to ease right back into their routines.
  • The construction project is on track, with teachers and students in a bunch of beautiful new classrooms and the new kindergarten/1st grade wing set to open in January.
  • We're continuing with our Soar to Success program and Mr. Harlan will be hosting grade level meetings to review Soar expectations as well as safety information.
  • The students have been getting outside and enjoying the new play yard.
  • The biggest challenge we've had so far has been with transportation. Please reach out to the transportation department with questions or concerns.

Please plan to join us for our next PTO meeting at 9:15 on Friday, October 7 in the gym/cafeteria.
