PTO Newsletter - April 2022

Spring is here!

It's a busy time at SFE, with so many fun activities. Read on so you don't miss anything.

Here are some updates from our recent PTO meeting:

  • Raffle baskets are back! Tickets are on sale through April 7 and winners will be drawn and announced on Friday, April 8. Thanks to everyone who donated toward the baskets and to our homeroom parents for putting them together. This is an important fundraiser for our school.
  • Thanks to all who helped with the Sweetheart Dance. It was a fun night with over 300 attendees.
  • Everyone was excited for the Harlem Wizards game. Thanks to all the volunteers who made it happen, and special thanks to Mr. Harlan and the SFE Dream Team. The energetic participation from our principal, teachers and staff made the night. It sure looked like the 1,000+ attendees had fun.
  • Thanks to our SFE Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee and all the students who created a family flag. Encourage your student to tell you about the flags that are decorating our walls as a creative representation of the diversity that makes SFE so special.
  • Other recent PTO sponsored activities included a service project the students completed at their Valentine's day parties, supplies for a kindergarten 5 senses workshop and recess supplies.
  • Upcoming PTO sponsored activities will include a teacher appreciation lunch on May 5 and t-shirts and water ice for field day on June 10.
  • At our March meeting, CR facilities manager Doug Taylor and SFE construction manager, Colin Case, provided an update on the renovation project, which is on track to be completed in the fall of 2024.
  • School board representative, Yota Palli, provided an update on board activity, including the search for a superintendent. Information can be found on the district site.
  • Mr. Harlan shared how excited he is about everything that's happening at SFE this spring.

Please plan to join us for our next PTO meeting at 9:15 on Friday, May 6 in the SFE APR.
